Thoughts on Soup

I had some soup today. I’ve always wondered, who invented soup?                                                 It just seems a really random idea to have.                                                                                         Did they just toss the contents of their icebox into a pot for dinner?                                           Did they say “Hey guys, let’s jumble a bunch of random stuff together and eat it!”?               I’ll have to look into this. Perhaps Wikipedia will answer my questions.
